Jason, a US Army veteran, and his 7-year-old Miniature Pincher, Jack, have been with MSSD since February, 2012. Jack was rescued by Jason when his previous owner passed away and now Jack is helping Jason with symptoms of PTSD and mobility issues.
Jack has made great strides in his training which includes sleeping in Jason’s bed to calm him enough to fall asleep in addition to waking Jason up when he is having nightmares by jumping on him, licking his face or barking. Jason has been training Jack to walk on a leash that attaches to Jason’s belt to help better his mobility as well as grounding Jason when he becomes overwhelmed in public.
Jack has passed his Star Puppy and his Public Access Test.
Jason definitely feels like he has a new lease on life, thanks to Jack, who is also by his side while Jason attends class at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
